It is certainly a grape variety that loves the sea and seeks it out

Just as the sea, though unchanging, takes on different hues depending on the sunlight that falls upon it, so too does Vermentino reveal different facets of itself depending on the regions where it is grown, while always remaining recognizable.

It suffices to recall that Pliny the Elder, in his monumental encyclopedia, mentions the wines of Luni as being Like all ancient grape varieties, it exhibits great morphological variability and a wide range of names: only through genetic comparison have we been able to eliminate some of these names and confirm that the others are true synonyms, as in the case of Pigato and Favorita, which show no differences in their DNA.
